Summary

He’s not made for relationships。 Especially not the kind she wants…

Mason Parker doesn’t believe in love。 Sure, he cares about people。 His younger brother, for example。 That’s why he’s bringing him all the way to an abandoned cabin in the mountains to straighten him out。

But love? That’s for fairytales。 And people who haven’t had the hope knocked out of them。

People like his brand new Little-Miss-Sunshine neighbor with the golden hair and unwavering smile。

Alaska Winter is a pure romantic。 Her silver linings always outnumber the clouds。 So when two hulking brothers move into the abandoned shack next door, she puts on a smile and introduces herself。

And gets knocked back。

That’s okay。 She’ll just be neighborly from a distance。 She won’t notice the way Mason’s muscles flex whenever he uses an axe, or the way his eyes are like flint whenever he looks at her。

And he won’t notice the way she plays with her dog in the snow when she’s only wearing skimpy pajamas。

Neighbors。 That’s all they’ll be。 What could possibly go wrong?

The truth of Alaska's disappearance as a child is finally revealed and she gets to emerge from under the shadow of being seen as fragile by her family。 Though this series hasn't avoided emotional topics this felt heavier than the previous books, with both Mason and Ty's childhood experiences。 Despite this, or maybe due to this contrast, the HEA feels more deserved。 The truth of Alaska's disappearance as a child is finally revealed and she gets to emerge from under the shadow of being seen as fragile by her family。 Though this series hasn't avoided emotional topics this felt heavier than the previous books, with both Mason and Ty's childhood experiences。 Despite this, or maybe due to this contrast, the HEA feels more deserved。 。。。more

Mason moves his brother to his father’s old cabin in the woods so his stepmother doesn’t send him to a foster home。 Alaska is their neighbor but they aren’t very welcoming to her。 She moved to the woods to show her family she can take care of herself。 They are overprotective since she disappeared a few days with amnesia when she was younger。 Their pasts intertwine, do they have a future?

This is the fourth book in the Winterville series。 You can read it as a standalone but it is connected to the other books。 Alaska is the youngest Winter and the one everyone protects。 When she was 8 she went missing and returned days later dirty, with a bump on her head and no memories of what happened。 Everyone assumed it was a botched kidnapping attempt。 She is a 30 year old adult and is sick everyone treating her like she's weak and helpless。 Mason moves into the cabin near her home。 He's the This is the fourth book in the Winterville series。 You can read it as a standalone but it is connected to the other books。 Alaska is the youngest Winter and the one everyone protects。 When she was 8 she went missing and returned days later dirty, with a bump on her head and no memories of what happened。 Everyone assumed it was a botched kidnapping attempt。 She is a 30 year old adult and is sick everyone treating her like she's weak and helpless。 Mason moves into the cabin near her home。 He's the grumpy to her sunshine。 He's there to get his brother through high school by getting him away from the gangs and violence in the city。 He's not there to make friends but he's drawn to Alaska only he doesn't believe he's good enough for her。 Can't wait for book five。 I received a copy of this book and this is my honest review。 。。。more

I've got to say I'm in love with this small town - the way everyone is in each other's business is seriously funny for me, since I would go absolutely mental in a place like that。 That is the reason I could connect to Mason on so many levels。 He's come to one place that holds a small piece of peace and happiness he remembers before everything went to hell for him。 He wasn't prepared to meet someone who would show him that letting people in, is not as scary as he thinks it is。 Alaska is trying so I've got to say I'm in love with this small town - the way everyone is in each other's business is seriously funny for me, since I would go absolutely mental in a place like that。 That is the reason I could connect to Mason on so many levels。 He's come to one place that holds a small piece of peace and happiness he remembers before everything went to hell for him。 He wasn't prepared to meet someone who would show him that letting people in, is not as scary as he thinks it is。 Alaska is trying so hard to prove to everyone she is strong and capable of taking care of herself without everyone looking out for her。 She can't help but want to see Mason and his brother feel welcome。 The more time she sends with Mason, the more the connection grows。 But neither one of them expected just how much their pasts were intertwined。 The story has many ups and downs, but it was funny, healing and left me feeling like everything is alright in the world。 I'm hoping the next book is about North because that man needs someone who will put him in his place。 With love of course :) 。。。more

I'm not sure what the title has to do with the actual story, but I loved this warm, emotional, wonderful romance by Carrie Elks。 Alaska is the fourth Winter cousin to find love and this book might be my favorite in the series so far。 I was completely wrapped up in Alaska and Mason's story。 It was a beautiful thing to watch the aloof Mason and defensive teenager Ty open up in response to Alaska's caring heart。 This is such a great story。 I couldn't put it down。I received a free copy of this book I'm not sure what the title has to do with the actual story, but I loved this warm, emotional, wonderful romance by Carrie Elks。 Alaska is the fourth Winter cousin to find love and this book might be my favorite in the series so far。 I was completely wrapped up in Alaska and Mason's story。 It was a beautiful thing to watch the aloof Mason and defensive teenager Ty open up in response to Alaska's caring heart。 This is such a great story。 I couldn't put it down。I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review。 。。。more

I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntarily, honest review of it。‘Memories of mistletoe’ is the fourth book in the ‘Winterville’ series。 These stories are all centered around the small town Winterville where the residents celebrate Christmas with hot chocolate, Christmas songs, a Christmas musical and in many other ways。 It’s here in this small town that the grandchildren of the founder of the town find love and happiness。 Just like in the previous stories, you get both POV’s in th I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntarily, honest review of it。‘Memories of mistletoe’ is the fourth book in the ‘Winterville’ series。 These stories are all centered around the small town Winterville where the residents celebrate Christmas with hot chocolate, Christmas songs, a Christmas musical and in many other ways。 It’s here in this small town that the grandchildren of the founder of the town find love and happiness。 Just like in the previous stories, you get both POV’s in this story。 In the previous stories we got to know Alaska as a sweet natured, quiet, friendly woman with a romantic heart。 But also a woman scarred by an event that happened when she was a child。 (She disappeared for a day and can’t remember what happened during those hours that she was gone。)。 That terrifying experience also caused the people around her to be very protective of her and treat her as a fragile, vulnerable little bird。 Something that Alaska wasn’t very happy about。 In this story Alaska showed everyone that she’s very strong, that the event hadn’t broken her, that she possessed great inner strength even when she looked at life with goodness, sunshine and kindness。 Alaska was a great character。I found Mason a more difficult character to connect with。 He was emotional scarred by his stay as a child in foster care。 He became a lawyer to serve the law but over the years he lost himself a bit in his work for powerful big corporations。 Until the moment that he chose to give it all up。 Now he’s unemployed and responsible for his 17 year old brother Tyler (or Ty as everyone calls him)。 So all this made Mason very closed off。 Although Alaska and Mason were polar opposites in many things (Alaska was affectionate, cheerful, positive, enthusiastic and friendly and Mason wasn’t any of those things。 He was not social, silent and grumpy)。 They did have one thing in common, both cared deeply about the people close to them, they helped them in small and big ways without expecting anything in return。 They both had a big heart。 Only where Alaska showed it, Mason kept his hiding under grumpiness and distant behaviour。 I found them a great couple, I loved how they took care of each other in their own way。 I’m so happy that we finally discovered what happened to Alaska as a child and the fact that Mason was connected to it, made their connection more special。 Mason’s younger brother Ty was a great secondary character (even though he sometimes acted like a real teenager but he was still friendly, sweet and respectful most of the time)。 He had a hard time after losing his father but luckily he had Mason (Alaska and the people of Winterville) to help him。 Another new secondary character that I really liked in this story was Mason’s childhood friend Preach, he was an interesting and fun character。 I liked the fact he wasn’t afraid to tell Mason the truth when Mason was making bad decisions。 He was a loyal friend。 Some scenes with Preach and Mason really made me laugh out loud, Mason may have trouble with expressing his feelings for Alaska but he certainly made up for that with this one special scene。 I’m still smiling just thinking about it!!It was wonderful to see all the cousins again and their partners。 So see how they were doing and to feel the deep love and loyalty between them all。 They’re also a fun group of people and they love to tease each other。 As in the other stories, this story showed the good and the ‘bad’ sides of life in a small town。 The people who live there are noisy, curious and they love to gossip but they are also friendly and supportive and there when you need help。If you’re looking for some well written light but also emotional Christmas stories, try this series。 There’s love, teasing, snow, hot chocolate and even some sex scenes in them。 I enjoyed this story and I’m looking forward to North’s story。 。。。more
